GOLF AND TENNIS LEAGUES
Country Place has active golf and tennis leagues. Men and women residing in Country Place are welcome to join these leagues. Golf leagues meet on a regular basis. Golf tournament schedules for league play are established and approved by the Board each calendar year through the Country Place Pro Shop. Additional tournaments may be hosted by Country Place residents and their invited guests, subject to scheduling and fee protocols, also administered through the Pro Shop.
There are a variety of tennis leagues available to the residents of Country Place. The leagues are set up for the beginner tennis player to the more advanced tennis player. These leagues play on a regular basis. Some of the tennis leagues include men's tennis, senior men's tennis, women's tennis, and mixed doubles.
You may refer to the monthly calendar at the end of the Country Place newsletter to obtain the specific dates and times for the golf leagues tee-off times, golf tournaments, and tennis league times.
If you have any questions pertaining to golf or tennis, please contact Arthur Salinas at the Country Place Pro Shop at 972-416-0660.
PARTY BRIDGE
Party Bridge meets on the first Friday of each month at 7:15 p.m. in the Clubhouse. There is a host for each Party Bridge session. All residents of Country Place are welcome to play. Refreshments are served.
DUPLICATE BRIDGE
Duplicate Bridge meets on the second Saturday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Clubhouse and is open to all residents of Country Place. There is a hostess scheduled for each bridge session. Refreshments are served.
TWICE MONTHLY BRIDGE GROUP
The Twice Monthly Bridge Group meets at the Clubhouse on the first and third Monday of each month at 12:45 p.m. and usually ends about 3:30 p.m. Presently, there are four tables of party bridge for both ladies and gentlemen. The substitute list is always open, and we will be glad to add your name.
WEDNESDAY MORNING BRIDGE GROUP
The Wednesday Morning Party Bridge Group meets at the Clubhouse the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. This group is open to all Country Place residents. It was organized in 1998 and has been very successful. It allows players who are unable to play on a regular basis the opportunity to play when it is convenient for them. It also allows residents to treat their visiting guests to a game of bridge. Coffee and donuts are served.
BUNKO
Bunko is a group of 16 ladies who get together at the Clubhouse on the second Monday evening of every month from 7:30 p.m. until about 9:30 p.m. Bunko is played with dice, and we compete to see who wins the most
games and gets the most "bunkos." Prizes are given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place and most bunkos. The booby prize goes to the one who wins the least amount of games. Three names are drawn for door prizes.
The cost to play is $5.50 to cover the cost of prizes and part of the refreshments. The age range of players is 30+. This is a good way to get to know some of your neighbors and have fun too. Refreshments are served.
We are always on the look out for substitute players to fill in for regular members who cannot make it for various reasons. Substitute players can become regular members when an opening is available since our regular members sometimes move out of Country Place.
COUNTRY GALS
Country Gals is an organization of approximately 50 women residents of Country Place whose purpose is to help us become better acquainted by sharing interests and sponsoring group activities. Meetings are at the Clubhouse the second Tuesday of each month from September through May. Meetings may be at 10:00 a.m. for coffee meetings or at 11:00 a.m. for luncheons. This is followed by an interesting program of book reviews, lectures, music, demonstrations of various kinds, and so-forth.
All coffees and luncheons are "adventures in good eating" provided by the members. In addition to the regular Tuesday meetings, a sewing group meets on a separate day and an "out-to-lunch" bunch carpools to a fine restaurant for a noon treat once a month.
New members are welcome.
COUNTRY PLACE
GAME OF THE MONTH CLUB
The Game of the Month Club was organized in 1988 to allow singles or couples to enjoy evenings playing games such as Trivial Pursuit, Pictionery, Charades, Scavenger hunts, Mystery games, Road rallies, etc. on a regular basis. This casual group of neighbors has a wonderful, relaxed, and fun-filled time at the parties.
Each member hosts an annual party on the first Saturday of each month. The host plans the games and sends out invitations. The host may invite additional guests. Members are encouraged to invite friends and potential new members. Everyone brings his or her own drink and food to share. The host provides the plates, cutlery, napkins, ice, etc. but does not have to cook or prepare food.
A list is issued at the beginning of the year with the party schedule. Creativity is encouraged. Games should be simple to learn (three minutes or less for instructions). Team play works best.
The Club will:
- Develop the annual schedule.
- Send out the list to the host couple six weeks before the party.
The Host will:
- Plan the game and provide any materials, props, etc.
- Send invitations out at least three weeks in advance.
- Provide ice, plates, cutlery, etc.
COUNTRY PLACE PLAYGROUP
The playgroup consists of parent(s) or grandparent(s) that participate with their children in a group setting, usually something fun at the playground, Breakfast with Santa, etc. for one-two hours. They meet once a month, usually on a Saturday.
OTHER GROUPS THAT MEET:
Bible Study, Tuesday & Thursday at 7:00 pm
Dad’s Poker, 2nd Friday at 7:30 pm
Men’s Poker, 2nd & 4th Wednesday at 7:30 pm
